A Loving Foundation

It’s impossible to build strong relationships and communities without love. God’s love and His Word are the foundation for everything at Saint Lucas; sharing that love is the school’s mission. Grace gives our students a firm foundation in their present struggles and prepares them to face the future. Our Saint Lucas faculty and staff teach each student that they are unique and incredibly loved not only in friendships and other relationships, but by the God who made them, saves them, and guides them daily through His Word.

How We Help Students Build a Faith Foundation at Saint Lucas…

As a Christian school, we have the love of Jesus as our focus and that gives us purpose for everything we do. His unconditional love and unchanging Word are woven throughout every subject area and provide the lens through which our students’ heads and hearts are encouraged to view the world. Since Christian education is a team responsibility involving parents, teachers and congregation members, we work in loving partnership with one another to identify and develop the gifts of each unique child.

Extracurricular activities play a vital role in the physical, emotional and spiritual growth of our students. By being a part of a club, group, or team, our students learn a number of valuable life lessons: citizenship, sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, accountability, loyalty, humility, perseverance, respect and self-control. When our lives are grounded in the love of Jesus, there is an organic outpouring of love for those around us.

Spirit Squads!

Throughout each school year, our students engage in Spirit Squads, multi-grade teams that foster creativity and teamwork. These squads, resembling large family units of about 14 children, participate in friendly competitions and various creative or strategic activities. The older students take the reins, guiding and inspiring the younger through neighborhood scavenger hunts and cleanups, S.T.E.M./S.T.E.A.M. projects, and community service initiatives like encouraging congregation shut-ins or members of the military with cheerful messages of appreciation and thanks. These afternoons promote student body unity and a warm, inclusive atmosphere, leaving a lasting impression on every squad member. The shared experiences often lead to lasting connections between students, going beyond grade levels, and fostering a sense of camaraderie.

A History of Educational Excellence

The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) has a rich tradition of academic excellence in its Preschool through Grade 12 school system. The WELS has operated highly regarded schools across the United States, the Caribbean, and elsewhere in the world for over 150 years. Currently, WELS churches and associations operate 387 early childhood centers, 294 elementary schools, and 26 high schools across the nation.

Saint Lucas Lutheran School is part of one of the largest private school systems in America. The Wisconsin Synod has provided excellent instructors to these schools by training its own teachers since 1884. It is gratifying to report that, on average, students attending WELS schools annually tend to outperform their peers by a considerable margin on national achievement tests. We humbly thank God for His blessings upon our schools. Since 1872, Saint Lucas Lutheran School has partnered with parents in providing a Christ-centered education that prepares students for life and eternity.

Connection to Church

Our school has been a Ministry of Saint Lucas Lutheran Congregation for over 150 years. Many of our congregation members were students, and some come from a generational tradition who attended before them!

Because we are family, and because the congregation supports us with its time, talents and love-offerings, we treasure spending time together. Some of the ways our students maintain that relationship:

  • Singing monthly at Sunday worship services
  • Helping to assemble Holiday Food Baskets for our neighbors in need
  • Sending cheerful notes to congregation members who can no longer leave their homes
  • Weekly Chapel service held in the church

“The staff, students, and their families are like an extension of my own family. I really appreciate the sense of community at the school and their faith-based teaching. The staff really care, it’s a safe school, and we love the small class sizes.”
